Registering to use the COGSTATE Research™ Software (the “Research Software”) via the COGSTATE website and using the Research Software in your academic study (the “Study”) may require you (the “User”) to submit certain Personal Information. “Personal Information” is any information that can identify you and may include, but shall not be limited to, your name and email address.
COGSTATE’s collection of Personal Information will be limited to the information that you enter for the purpose of registering for an account and for the purposes of conducting the Study (including information of study participants). Your Personal information will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose, except with your consent, as required or permitted by law or as otherwise contained herein.
COGSTATE may use Personal Information along with the Personal Information of all or some of the other registrants and users of the Research Software to generate aggregated data that does not contain Personal Information (the “Aggregated Data”). COGSTATE may use the Aggregated Data or share it with third parties for research purposes, for example, to improve the functionality of the Research Software or other products or services. Any third party who receives such Aggregated Data must agree that they will not attempt to make the Aggregated Data personally identifiable, such as by combining it with other databases.
You may withdraw your consent to COGSTATE’s collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information at any time, on reasonable notice, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. COGSTATE will inform you of the implications of so withdrawing your consent to such collection, use and disclosure. Your Personal Information will be retained only as long as necessary for these purposes or as required by law.
COGSTATE has implemented commercially reasonable security safeguards to protect Personal Information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. Methods of protection include: physical measures (e.g., locked filing cabinets and restricted access to offices); organizational measures (e.g., security clearances and limiting access on a “need-to-know” basis); and technological measures (e.g., the use of passwords and encryption).
At any time, you may challenge the accuracy and completeness of your Personal Information and have it amended as appropriate. In any such case, COGSTATE may request that you provide identifying information sufficient for it to permit such amendment. Any such identifying information shall be used only for this purpose.
