- Introduction
CogState ClinicalTrials comprises a customizable range of computerized cognitive tasks able to measure baseline and change in all cognitive domains. Specialized tasks can assess attention, memory, executive function, as well as language and social-emotional cognition if required. Our batteries of tasks are used in research and commercial trials to determine the effect on cognition of drugs, devices, nutraceuticals and other interventions in many different conditions, diseases and disorders, and also in healthy volunteers. They are also used in large-scale sports medicine and screening programs where conventional testing is not feasible.
Validity, Reliability, Sensitivity
- The CogState testing method has been validated in international peer-reviewed journals. It targets a wide range of cognitive domains, including simple reaction time, attention, executive function and social-emotional cognition.
- Our tests are designed to maximize the signal and minimize the noise from cognitive recordings taken in clinical trials. They have a proven ability to detect both improvement and decline in cognition.
- Excellent stability allows for the detection of subtle drug effects, meaning that any change in cognition - no matter how small - will be detected.
- Minimal learning effects ensure that subjects can be retested as many times and as often as needed, even multiple times in short periods - as may occur, for example, during early-phase clinical trials.
Rapidity
- Our tests are the fastest computerized tests in the world. A brief battery can be completed in as little as 7 minutes without loss of sensitivity, and a more extensive battery in only 25 minutes, ensuring ease of integration into a busy clinical trial schedule.
- When dealing with difficult patient groups such as those with Schizophrenia and ADHD, the ability to collect the optimum amount of data in the shortest possible time is a significant advantage.
